Hotel 1928 is the historic restoration and adaptive reuse of the former Grand Karem Shrine Building. Named after the year the building was completed, Hotel 1928 offers 33 guest rooms adorned with SFERRA bedding, two food and beverage outlets, a café, over 6,600 square feet of event space, a rooftop terrace, and a retail shop featuring exclusive Magnolia-designed Hotel 1928 merchandise.
Experience
Hotel 1928’s double-height Library is a true haven within the city. With two wrap-around staircases, the Library welcomes guests to comfortably gather among book-lined walls, Chesterfield sofas, and wingback chairs.
Hotel 1928’s two-story library is filled to the ceiling with historic books from Booked Up, American writer Larry McMurtry’s (author of Terms of Endearment and Lonesome Dove) beloved Archer City bookshop–a collection Chip Gaines bought with the intention of honoring and preserving. Many have wondered what Chip would do with this collection. Now, at Hotel 1928, the collection is on display.
