Find the Right Sheets for You
A bed is not the place for counting—not sheep, and not threads. When you crawl between the sheets, you want to feel covered in softness and comfort, not numbers.
At SFERRA, we believe thread count is only one part of the equation. Sure, it tells you how many threads are in a square inch of fabric, but linens with the same thread count can vary significantly in quality and how they feel to you depending on the grade of cotton used, the weaving techniques and finishes.
That is why we encourage you to lose count—and to understand the hand and markings of truly exquisite linens.
FIND THE RIGHT SHEETS FOR YOU
Keep in mind the feel, fiber, weight and finishing of bed linens, and use the Linen Finder below to select the sheets best suited for you.
Feel
The most important factor in selecting a sheet is simple: how does it feel to you? Thread count is simply the number of threads per square inch of fabric. It is the staple size, weave, yarn type, and ply of the yarn together with thread count that make up the feel of a fabric—crisp, matte, substantial, silken, or textured.
fiber
The finer the fiber, the better the sheet. It’s that simple. The world’s finest cotton is grown on the banks of the Nile River in Egypt. Egyptian cotton is renowned because it yields one of the longest-staple cottons in the world. The longer the fiber, the better it can be spun into smoother, stronger, finer yarn.
weight
Often people do not realize that the weight of a sheet can make all the difference—do you prefer an airy, almost-not-there feeling or do you prefer to be draped in softness? Or do you like to switch from season to season?
finishing
After a SFERRA sheet is woven, it goes through a proprietary finishing process developed over generations. This important step determines the final texture, color, and softness of luxury sheets. Italian mills that produce SFERRA linens consider fine finishing an art form, and guard the exact process as a secret.
Percale
Percale is a closely woven, plain weave that results in a smooth, crisp feel and matte look.
–
SATEEN
Sateen is a weave that features long expanses of exposed yarns, creating a sleek sheen, a denser weight than percale, and exceptional softness.
–
LINEN
Linen is woven with exceptionally long staples, which makes it breathable and lightweight, and helps to wick away moisture better than any other fabric.
