How SFERRA's Senior Director of Design Transitions Her Home Between Seasons

As the seasons shift, so can the atmosphere of your home. In this Q&A, Alicen Soli, SFERRA’s Senior Director of Design, shares ideas and product picks for refreshing each room with light, airy updates for spring and summer

Certainly, a lot of consideration goes into designing a new season’s collection. Viaterra from Spring 2026 features your hand-sketched scenes. Can you elaborate on the inspiration behind its stunning design?

Viaterra was inspired by my travels to Italy that left a lasting impression on me. I was especially enchanted by the canals of Venice and the trees that line Lake Como. I also chose to feature scenes of Milan, as it marked my first trip to Italy with my now husband, where we stood in awe touring the Duomo. As I reflected on these experiences, I found myself returning to the small, vivid details—the way the light hit the buildings, the movement of the streets, the emotions tied to each place. I began sketching the scenes that stayed with me most, letting memory guide my hand. Viaterra ultimately became more than a collection; it is a visual story that captures not only the places I visited, but the feelings and moments I hold closest.

When transitioning your home from fall/winter into spring/summer, how do you balance an aesthetic refresh with everyday functionality? Which fabrics, textures, or color palettes do you gravitate toward for the new season?

My first step in refreshing my home is to exchange cozy, wool blankets and sateen bedding for crisp percale bedding and lightweight cotton blankets. I keep my space grounded in a palette of whites and soft neutrals, layering in deeper tones like navy and olive during the colder months. As the seasons shift, I introduce brighter, more uplifting hues—such as aqua, sage, and warm tans—to bring a sense of lightness and renewal.

For someone looking to refresh their bedroom for spring and summer, which three SFERRA pieces do you recommend?

I recommend starting with Celeste. Its percale fabric offers the perfect balance—crisp yet soft—keeping you comfortable through cooler evenings while remaining breathable during the height of summer. Duvet stuffers have a big impact on the feeling of a bed. For warmer months, Arcadia (light) is an ideal choice as it provides a lighter, almost quilt-like feel. To complete the look, I suggest incorporating a pop of color with Tindari decorative pillows. Their bright, bold tones instantly energize the space, adding a sense of vibrancy and seasonal renewal.

Bathrooms can feel especially revitalizing with the right seasonal updates. Which three SFERRA bath essentials do you suggest to create a fresh atmosphere?

To bring the revitalizing energy of the new season into the bathroom, I recommend starting with Aura Nuova. Its white base, accented with subtle, classic detailing, creates a clean and timeless foundation. Pair it with Cielo towels, plush yet lightweight, for the perfect balance of comfort and breathability, evoking a serene, spa-like atmosphere. To elevate the experience even further, add our Amalfi Citro diffuser. The citrus-inspired fragrance introduces an unexpected yet refreshing sensory layer.

As entertaining moves outdoors and gatherings become more relaxed in the warmer months, how do you approach dressing the table and which three SFERRA pieces do you recommend?

To me, spring and summer tablescapes are all about embracing a sense of ease, creating a setting that feels inviting, encourages gathering, and sparks conversation. I love to mix and match pieces from different collections to achieve a look that feels relaxed yet thoughtfully layered. Stramare in White/Natural pairs beautifully with Ondulato napkins. The interplay of textures, colors, and subtle patterns creates a dynamic table, one that strikes the perfect balance between effortless elegance and a touch of playful charm.
