INTERVIEW WITH INTERNATIONAL JET INTERIORS

How was the partnership between SFERRA and JET ESSENTIALS™ conceived?

The partnership between SFERRA and JET ESSENTIALS™ was completely organic and a dream collaboration.

Our company, International Jet Interiors, designs and handcrafts the finest aircraft environments where we consider every touchpoint as we create an extraordinary experience for our clients. While outfitting hundreds of aircraft, we found we were consistently resorting to customizing the linens for our clients, due to the lack of proper options available for the private jet industry. Meant for residential use, placemats, napkins, cocktail napkins, and tablecloth proportions were oversized and ill-fitting. JET ESSENTIALS™ was developed by International Jet Interiors as a solution to aircraft cabin needs. Naturally, the SFERRA brand, highlighted by their commitment to quality, the finest materials and outstanding craftsmanship, aligned with our philosophy of excellence and was an obvious choice to partner with.

JET ESSENTIALS™ is the first of its kind! A full line of aircraft linens, specifically designed and tailored to fit Boeing, Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer, Gulfstream, and Sikorsky aircraft. JET ESSENTIALS™ linens are runway ready in Alpha, Echo, and Romeo.

Which core values do International Jet Interiors and SFERRA share which allowed for this partnership to come to fruition?

International Jet Interiors and SFERRA share a passion for fine craftsmanship, luxury materials and exquisite handcrafted details that elevate our clients’ experiences. Both companies are renowned for designing and crafting the finest luxuries and are attuned to the needs of their esteemed clientele.

Why do you think your clients choose International Jet Interiors?

Clients appreciate our intelligent insight into investing onboard, our customization capabilities and our meticulous attention to detail. We make the experience enjoyable and effortless as we oversee every aspect of their aircraft refurbishment.

S: How does your design philosophy inform how you (or your clients) host and entertain?

T: The key to hosting is planning ahead and keeping things easy so that you can enjoy your time with friends—set the table in advance, have the starters out, and get the glasses ready with drinks.

When Peter and I have friends over for dinner, he usually does the cooking while I set the table and arrange the flowers. I have to admit, I do love a pressed napkin. SFERRA makes the best linen napkins. The weight of Festival is nice, the colors are amazing, and the best thing is that they go right into the laundry.
Are there any consistent aesthetic requests that the International Jet Interiors team receives?

With our uniquely tailored approach, we find that the aesthetic mirrors the client’s personality and lifestyle more than a specific design trend. Our clients personalize their aircraft interior to meet their travel needs, so it is imperative that we seamlessly integrate function and fashion from forward to aft. One client may love the ease of an open cabin configuration, while others desire multiple “zones” onboard, specifically designed to facilitate work, relaxation, and precious time spent with family and friends.

Some clients want their jet to feel like an extension of their eclectic and cozy home, and some want a modern Manhattan office at 40,000 feet. Our team will highlight the nuance of each space by incorporating meticulously curated colors, textures, and bespoke design elements that achieve a clients functional, visual, and tactile goals.

What drove the International Jet Interiors team to choose SFERRA when looking for a partner to create a custom linen collection?

SFERRA is the leader in fine linens, renowned around the world and a favorite amongst our clientele. Our clients dine in the finest restaurants and are accustomed to the look and feel of proper linens, and bespoke touchpoint details. It was natural for two leaders in luxury, SFERRA and International Jet Interiors, to collaborate on a line of JET ESSENTIALS™ linens specifically tailored to take private jet dining to entirely new heights.
S: What was the inspiration or idea behind the table you designed for SFERRA?

K: I envisioned a simple autumn table going from end of summer into autumn and even peeking into winter. For me, food, flowers, linens, and light all have to go well with each other so the choices I made are very much considered. I embrace the season and work with what each season offers. You do not need to rely on flowers for your centerpiece. Fruits, plants, and even just candlelight or a bunch of silver bowls with pinecones inside can be great alternatives.

With this table, I leaned into seasonal foliage like oakleaves, pinecones, and sunflowers, and I made sure the color of the linens worked into an easy tablescape.

I love the way SFERRA’s linens are made and launder, and I love the colors. The hemstitch and fabrication of the linen is beautiful.

S: Do you have advice on holiday entertaining?

K: I think it is good to be realistic with your capabilities. For instance, do not try to have a sit down dinner for 12 if the space can only fit 2 or 4. Some people are better at throwing brunches than they are at cocktail parties, while others want a big cocktail party or buffet. It depends on what your resources are and what you can accomplish. Only then can you host at your best.
